Effectiveness of Group Training Based on Choice Theory on Internalizing Problems, Empathy, and Identity Transformations Among Male Adolescents

Background: Choice theory stems from psychological concepts like self-concept, successful identity, and quality of the world. The encourages adolescents to accept responsibility for their choices on one hand predict effect such decisions lives other hand. present study aimed investigate effectiveness choice theory-based group training in internalizing problems, empathy, identity transformation among male adolescents. Methods: This quasi-experimental has a pre-test-post-test 1.5 months follow-up design with control group. statistical population included all studying Qazvin City, Iran, 2020-2021 academic year. sample 28 selected through convenience sampling randomly assigned experimental groups (n=14). received 8 sessions 90-minute based theory, while did not receive any intervention. We gathered data using empathy scale, Achenbach system empirically assessment (ASEBA), aspects questionnaire. Mixed repeated analyses variance, independent t test, Chi-square test were used analysis SPSS software, version 24. Results: findings indicated that was effective promoting problems (F=30.61, P<0.001), (F=21.35, (F=50.2, P<0.001). In addition, these effects sustainable until period. Conclusion: research It is recommended school counselors consider principles this intervention as an educational mission executive task
